Gelendzhik
Gelendzhik is a resort town in Krasnodar Krai, Russia, situated on the Gelendzhik Bay of the Black Sea. Gelendzhik is known for its spa, waterparks, cable car lines, waterfals and dolmens.
Arkhipo-Osipovka (Arhipka)
Arkhipo-Osipovka is a coastal village administrated to Gelendzhik and is a popular resort area famous for its unique nature, beautiful mountains, comfortable pebbly and sandy beaches, caves and waterfalls close to them.
Sochi
Sochi is a Russian resort city, situated in Krasnodar Krai just north of the southern Russian border. Situated on the Black sea coast it is busy in summer and popular in winter among skiing fans.
Claiming to be the longest city in Europe Sochi spreads along the shores of the Black Sea and against the background of the snow-capped peaks of the Caucasus Mountains. The population of Sochi is around 400 thousand people.
Sochi has a humid subtropical climate which lets the summer season last up to 6 month and winter temperatures drop below zero one or two days during winter months only as well as supports different types of subtropical vegetation. Favourable location and climate has made Sochi Russian subtropical resort. About two million people visit Greater Sochi each summer, when the city is home to the annual film festival "Kinotavr" and a getaway for Russia's elite.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the 2,957 square kilometres (731,000 acres) Caucasian Biosphere Reserve, lies just north from the city. Sochi also has Europe's most northerly tea plantations. It is served by the Adler-Sochi International Airport. The Sochi Light Metro is under construction, projected to be complete by 2014.
The city has been selected to be the host of the XXII Olympic Winter Games and XI Paralympic Winter Games in 2014
Sevastopol
Sevastopol is one of the major sea, trade and fishing port, located on the Black Sea coast of the Crimea peninsula. It is also recreaton, sicentific an cultural center if South Ukraine. It has population of 390 thousand people including, including Russian Black sea fleet and Ukrainian fleet servicemen. It includes 46 settlements and including Balaklava and Inkerman. Sevastopol was founded in 1973 as a base of the Russian Black sea fleet after the end of Turkish war 1768-1774. A great historical heritage of Sevastopol reflects landmarks of Russian and world history
Balaklava
Balaklava town is situated in 15 km to the South-East of Sevastopol. Balaklava Bay (from Greek - Harbour of Symbols (omens) hosted Tauri settlements, later Genoese colonies and the Turk town. In the period of the Crimean War of 1853-1856 during the siege of Sevastopol, Balaklava was the base of the British Army and southernmost point of the Soviet-German front during the World Wr II.
